Vellum98 is a web directory maintained in the archivist tradition: systematic, plainly organised, and open to verified submissions from the public.
Eight hundred and fifty sites are currently catalogued across twenty-two subject sections. Each entry was submitted directly by the site operator, reviewed for validity, and filed under the appropriate heading. The resulting index is a finding aid rather than a ranked list — it makes no claim of preference among listed sites.
The catalogue is organised into folios covering a broad range of subjects: financial services, clinical health, travel, technology, legal practice, food and hospitality, and more. Miscellaneous Holdings accommodates sites that resist neat categorisation. Cross-referencing between sections is encouraged.
Submissions are accepted at any time via the accession form. New entries are held as pending until reviewed; approved entries are added to the permanent register without delay. There is no fee for submission or inclusion.
Vellum98 operates as one record in a network of open web directories. Each directory in the network presents the same catalogued inventory under a distinct identity, ensuring entries are discoverable from multiple access points.
